Wine, oil and research. These will be the themes of the two days which will take place in Marsala on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd November. “Wine and oil: scientific research for the valorization of the territory” is the title of the conference organized by the Regional Institute of Wines and Oils of Sicily, by the SASTAS Department of the University of Messina, by Co.Ri.Bi.A. (the Agricultural Biological Risk Research Consortium) and Thermo Fisher Scientific. The two meetings will be held in Marsala at the San Pietro Monumental Complex. Plan

Among the speakers are the director of IRVOS Lucio Monte and the extraordinary commissioner Giorgio Calabrese, professor Giacomo Dugo, director of the SASTAS Department of the University of Messina and president of Co.Ri.Bi.A. and Doctor Franco Abballe of Thermo Fisher Scientific. It will start on Thursday afternoon at 5.30 pm with a focus on extra virgin olive oil. The start is scheduled for Friday at 9am with an initial theme on red wines. In particular, Dr. Di Stefano will talk about controlling the levels of alphatoxins and ochratoxins in Sicilian sweet wines. A work carried out by IRVOS in collaboration with the Jagiellonian University of Krakow. Finally, Dr. Gabriele Amore will talk about the production of innovative wines through mixed fermentations.
