IRVO Award 9th edition of the International Short Sips Festival
The 9th edition of the Sorsi Corti Short Film Festival will take place from 13 to 17 May at the Cinema Vittorio De Seta at the Cantieri Culturali della Zisa in Palermo. For the second consecutive year, IRVO will be part of the Festival jury and will award a prize to the short film that is most familiar with the theme of the relationship between man and nature in the space of production processes.
For the lawyer Nino Caleca, current Councilor for Agriculture, participation is useful, because the added value of contemporary agricultural products is today more than ever identified in the perception of a rural context where the environment is not exploited but cultivated, where the 'man as the true talent of productivity. For Caleca, the ability to narrate Sicily, its cultural and food and wine richness, is the basis of the model of future development in a region which boasts, in the face of a unique heritage in the world, the result of a thousand-year-old agricultural tradition, an absolute record in field of biodiversity and organic production.
Food and the methods of its production, the culture of the farmer, from the farmer to the entrepreneur, are the main cornerstones of the environmental and economic heritage of our region - the IRVO Commissioner Nino Di Giacomo Pepe points out - together with those of tourism and cultural heritage. Today the IRVO - in the words of the General Director Dr. Lucio Monte - in the restyling of its mission wants to interpret the rapid evolution of the methods of choice and consumption of products, and, alongside the encouragement of quality certification and traceability processes according to international parameters, aims to invest in contemporary languages, because the relationship between wine and consumption is a topic that marks the Mediterranean identity and conditions the market.
In this regard, the IRVO Commissioner, Nino Giacomo Pepe, underlines how much knowledge about Sicilian wines has grown in recent years, and how important this is, because you choose a good wine if you know and can explain what it is that can make it make it cost more.
Sorsishort is therefore a moment of encounter between wine, as an extra-urban product, and the identity of the narrator, who in the end is the one who urbanizes it, but it is also a delicious opportunity to discover how much of the journey through oneself - undertaken by the narrator - both in relation to food, to "Mother Earth", which story it tells.
During the event, IRVO will offer tasting of the Nadir sparkling wine, produced from extra-lucid Catarratto grapes in its own Experimental Cellar with the most innovative greening techniques aimed at mitigating environmental impacts, defending habitat and landscape and protecting biodiversity .
