IOOC dominates, the Sicily of oil excels

domina_iooc_copyA golden Sicily present at the first edition of the Domina-IOOC. Under the aegis of the Sicilian Region and the Regional Institute of Wine and Oil, Sicily hosted for the first time a world event on olive oil, lending its lands as a stage for the olive oil excellences of the Northern hemisphere and South.

And we are already thinking about the 2017 edition, again in May and organized by the team made up of Antonio G. Lauro, David Oddsson, Stefania Reggio, Raul and Leonardo Castellani.

Not just Sicilian oil, but oils from the four corners of the world in the competition: 327 samples. And on these Sicily excelled, taking home the 74% of the prizes.

The most prestigious, the D-IOOC Best International Award North Hemisphere, was won by Frantoio Romano Vincenzo di Bronte (CT) with Le Sciare extra virgin olive oil.

To confirm the high lineage of Sicilian oil production, the D-IOOC Best Regione Sicilia, the prerogative of Agrestis Soc. Coop. Agricola, with the extra virgin Fiore D'Oro Dop Monti Iblei Monte Lauro.

But there were also many medals that enriched the palmares of Sicilian olive oil production, many of which were collected directly during the awards ceremony, held at the Domina Coral Bay in Palermo and directed by the president of the Domina-IOOC Antonio G. Lauro.
