Innovation and Research

Article 2 of LR 2\2007 attributed to IRVO the qualification of research body, recognizing the value of the activity carried out in this sense since its establishment, as provided for by the Statute Regulation. The need to compete in an increasingly competitive and technological market, within a framework of safeguarding the specific quality and reliability of products and stringent European standards, research activity has taken on an essential role. The implementation of interventions in the field of scientific, industrial research and pre-competitive development is aimed at the development of new products, processes and technologies in the viticultural, oenological and olive oil fields, enhancing the scientific, instrumental and professional skills of the IRVO.

As part of innovation, the creation of a public-private network is envisaged to respond to the new needs of Mediterranean viticulture linked to the issue of change (climate and tastes) and the use of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) to guarantee identity, quality, origin and traceability of products and also be used in the sphere of communication, logistics and marketing. The institution's constant participation in research and experimentation programs financed or co-financed by the European community is expected
