Sicily leaves its mark at Be.Come ABOVE & BEYOND WINE 2024

With IRVO, Isola brings its 100 facets of taste and traditions to Milan

Sicily's participation in the event has been successfully concluded Be.Come ABOVE & BEYOND WINE, the Milanese event that, from 25 to 27 November, transformed the Radisson Hotel Santa Sofia into a crossroads of flavours, territories and international meetings. The Regional Institute of Wine and Oil (IRVO) brought the authentic soul of the Island to the stage, with the first eight itineraries of the “100 Sicilies – Experiences of Good Life”, a journey through denominations, landscapes and traditions that anticipates the designation of Sicily as European Region of Gastronomy 2025.

"The participation of the protection consortia in this edition of Be.come was an opportunity to present stories of territories and people, 100 facets of our Sicily. Viticulture and olive growing told in a journey of taste and hospitality. IRVO brought together all the protection Consortia, who believed, in their entirety, in this project, showing and illustrating their territory with a sensory journey that exalted the beauty of our land. I can say that the experience was unique to launch this ambitious project to promote wine tourism and oil tourism, as coordinated and narrated by the respective protection Consortia". This is the comment of Giusi Mistretta, extraordinary commissioner of IRVO.

Sicily has left its mark. During the three days of the event, international buyers, industry professionals and enthusiasts were able to explore the richness of the Island through masterclasses, tastings and meetings. From the unique charm of Pantelleria to the majesty of Etna, from the Iblei Mountains to the hills of Marsala, every corner of the Island was the protagonist with its flavors and its history.

The Dinner of the 100 Sicilies, the highlight of the event, fascinated the participants with a menu created by the chefs Gaetano Verde, Riccardo Fazio and Alen Mangione, who interpreted the aromas and flavours of the cultivar Sicilian in a contemporary key. A multisensory experience that has demonstrated how Sicilian oil and wine can become true ambassadors of culture.

Sicily, already a protagonist of a growth in food and wine tourism (with a +11.4% in the first six months of 2024), has confirmed its leading role in the Italian and European panorama. With prestigious awards such as Agrigento Italian Capital of Culture 2025 and Gibellina Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2026, the Island demonstrates that it can be a destination for authentic and memorable experiences, capable of attracting visitors all year round.

At Be.Come ABOVE & BEYOND WINE 2024 our Region has started a relaunch process, important for the promotion of Sicilian excellence outside our borders.
