Montecarlo Gastronomie, debut for Sicilian oil

Sicilian extra virgin olive oil in Montecarlo. From 22 to 25 November, seven companies from the island were the protagonists of the eighteenth edition of the "Montecarlo Gastronomie", an event of international resonance. First official experience for the Regional Institute of Wines and Oils of Sicily in the olive growing sector.

And a very respectable debut. The Sicilian companies have in fact achieved great success and feedback during the tastings. The Sicilian producers were therefore very satisfied "who also had the opportunity - explains Gianni Giardina of IRVOS who accompanied them in this experience - not only to sell their products but also to establish contacts for commercial purposes".

A highly respectable showcase after all: the “Montecarlo Gastronomie” brings together the best of French, Italian and European gastronomy. Fifteen thousand visitors, most of them from the sector, which it attracts every year. Two thousand and 500 square meters of exhibition and this year it was the Sicilian stand that welcomed us. “The success achieved by Sicilian products is inevitable – comments the director of IRVOS, Lucio Monte. Our quality is unquestionable and we as an organization work on this every day to guarantee and increase it by supporting companies". The Sicilian stand was also visited by the minister of the Principality of Monaco and the Italian ambassador Antonio Morabito. “What struck them and what they appreciated – says Giardina – was the fact that the companies formed a group”. Three Sicilian companies also received the Food Critics' Grand Prize for oil. That is, the Bonanno company, Feudo della Mariandola and Centonze. The other participating companies were: Baglio Ingardia, Ravidà, Frantoio Oleario Sarullo and the Margherita Carducci Artenisio agricultural company. Baglio Ingardia also received the Special Jury Award for the IGT Terre Siciliane Munir wine.
