The Promed project at the 36th OIV Congress
“Ampelographic characterization of the Girgentina and Gellewza grapes cultivars grown in Malta island”. This is the title of the poster presented these days in Romania on the occasion of the 36th World Congress of Vine and Wine organized by the OIV.
After the positive experience of 2012 in Turkey, this year too the Irvo team of researchers obtained a positive opinion from the scientific evaluation committee of the OIV and headed to Bucharest, with the aim of bringing to the fore the results obtained within the Promed project internationally.
The OIV Congress represents a very prestigious showcase for the project. Suffice it to say that during the five days of work, scientists and experts from all over the world will meet to share and exchange knowledge and experiences related to the various themes of the congress: viticulture, oenology, economics and legislation, health and safety.
The poster presented at the Congress is the synthesis of intense research work carried out on the two native Maltese varieties, Girgentina and Gellewza, which for the first time ever have been characterized from an ampelographic point of view.
