Feudo Montoni has been producing wine since 1469 and keeps in its vineyards an ancient clone of Nero d'Avola reproduced for centuries with the technique of grafting onto wild plants. The 73 hectares of the company entirely exposed to the east, with 50/60 year old vineyards, are located in the center of Sicily at an altitude ranging from 500 to 750 m. above sea level The strong temperature variations, the pedoclimatic conditions, the low yields (from 30 to a maximum of 80ql per hectare), the Guyot and spurred cordon pruning, the counter-espalier and sapling training system, give us non-concentrated wines, with a elegant balance between acids and alcohol, as in the case of our white Catarratto and Grillo, and give "that age-old clone of ours" of Nero d'Avola particular characteristics that lead to a wine with a strong personality and peculiarity, with greater complexity of aromas and a richer flavor consistency, making it exceptionally unique in its typology.
