Sicily tells its story in Lugano: success for the first BtoB organized by IRVO
On January 20, 2025, the Italian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce (CCIS) in Lugano hosted an event that marked an important step for the positioning of Sicily on the international market. Sixteen Sicilian companies in the wine and oil sectors, selected by IRVO, met Swiss buyers and professionals in a BtoB format that aims to create new opportunities for economic and commercial development.
The initiative, dedicated to producers with a turnover of less than three million euros, is part of IRVO's strategy to relaunch the Sicilian agricultural sector. During the day, operators were able to participate in BtoB meetings, an exclusive masterclass on Sicilian wines conducted by Paolo Basso, Best Sommelier of the World 2013, and a walk-around tasting that closed the event.
"We have registered great enthusiasm and participation from Swiss professionals, confirming the strong appeal of productive Sicily abroad. Events like this open the way to new growth channels for small and medium-sized businesses on the island. IRVO is committed to supporting these businesses, particularly in the export sector, through targeted projects and strategic collaborations such as the one with the CCIS", said director Vito Bentivegna.
IRVO's promotional activity continues with new BtoB events. On January 24, Catania will host food&beverage operators from the United Arab Emirates, offering them a program of direct meetings and visits to selected Sicilian companies.
The event in Lugano represents only the beginning of an ambitious path that aims to consolidate Sicily's reputation as a land of food and wine excellence and opportunities for the global market.
