“The Frontier of Sicilian Vine: Biodiversity, Climate, Innovation” – A day dedicated to research and experimentation in contemporary viticulture
Last June 24, the University of Palermo hosted the event “The frontier of Sicilian vines: biodiversity, climate, innovation”, aimed at researchers, wine professionals and institutions, with the aim of investigating the frontiers of contemporary viticulture.
The day opened with greetings from the authorities and an introductory talk on “Technical dissemination models for the strengthening of the Sicilian wine sector” and then focused on the projects BI.VI.SI. – Enhancement of Sicilian viticultural biodiversity And VISTA LUCIDO – Innovative and sustainable valorization of the terroirs of native varieties: the case of Lucido.
According to Dr. Giusi Mistretta – Commissioner of the Regional Institute of Wine and Oil (IRVO) – with this and other events in the area, IRVO «confirms the role it plays, both in promotion and in production but above all in research».
Added to this is the comment of Dr. Anthony Sparacio, director of the IRVO Research and Experimentation Operations Unit: “A grape variety emerges that is still to be discovered and valorized”.
The day ended with a free tasting of experimental wines.

Public consultation on the IRVO 2026-2028 PTPCT update
Public consultation for the update of the Three-Year Plan for the Prevention of Corruption and Transparency (PTPCT) 2026/2028. In order to allow maximum involvement in the preparation of the update of the Three-Year Plan for the Prevention of Corruption and Transparency of the Regional Institute of Wine and Oil for the three-year period 2026/2028, all interested parties – particularly citizens, companies, consumer associations, representative trade unions, and other entities operating in the territory representing particular interests – are invited to submit comments and/or proposals to the Head of Corruption Prevention and Transparency (RPCT), which will be evaluated during the drafting of the document.
