"Autumn in the Cellar": IRVO launches a journey through wine, art, and tradition in eight Sicilian destinations.

From October 25th to November 16th, eight wineries open their doors for a food and wine festival celebrating Sicily as the European Region of Gastronomy.

The Regional Institute of Wine and Oil (IRVO) promotes the project “Autumn in the Cellar”, an initiative involving eight Sicilian wineries and which will take place from October 25 to November 16, 2025, including tastings, shows, and culinary workshops immersed in the island's wine-growing regions.

The project is part of the framework of the promotion of wine tourism and its deseasonalization, in line with the recognition obtained by the Sicily as the European Region of Gastronomy 2025Every appointment unites cellar visits, show cooking with local chefs and the theatrical show “Culinary Tale”, conceived and directed by Orlando Biglieri: a one-act play that blends theater, music, dance and tasting of typical sweets accompanied by house wines.

The experiences will take place directly in the cellars, transformed for the occasion into meeting stages between culture, gastronomic craftsmanship and landscape.

The importance of projects like these was discussed by IRVO director Vito Bentivegna: "Autumn in the Cellar perfectly meets the goal of deseasonalizing wine tourism. It provides an important showcase for our wineries and an opportunity for visitors, not just tourists, to learn about the region and its products." He continued: "The Regional Institute of Wine and Oil actively supports all those organizations and initiatives that promote the excellence of our island."

The IRVO Special Commissioner also underlined the strategic dimension of the initiative Giusi Mistretta That He added: "Autumn in the Cellar represents a precious opportunity to showcase the excellence of wineries and the local area they come from. IRVO has always supported initiatives that authentically connect the public to the world of wine, promoting culture, hospitality, and awareness of the unique value of our wines. This helps us rediscover the profound connection between quality, tradition, and innovation that makes Sicilian wine unique."

"We imagined a festival that would be a journey into the heart of Sicily and its people," explains Orlando Biglieri. "Each stop is an experience that combines the pleasure of tasting with the discovery of the region. Wine becomes the common thread that ties together stories, people, and landscapes, offering visitors a new way to experience our land: slow, profound, and authentic."
