SICILY'S WINE CULTURE CHANGES SEASON: "AUTUMN IN THE CELLAR" RETURNS

IRVO and the production story in 7 stages: from October 3rd to 25th in Vittoria, Butera, Castiglione di Sicilia, Furnari, Castelbuono, Sambuca di Sicilia and Marsala

As the vines turn from green to golden yellow, the rows free of bunches of grapes are illuminated by the last rays of the harvest, the cellars smell of fermented must, and the tastings begin, revealing the wine's true identity. It is in this context that “Autumn in the Cellar”, the project promoted in Sicily byIRVO, Regional Institute of Wine and Oil, leads the public into the production realities of the island's various provinces during the period when the landscape and wine are transformed. Thus, Sicilian wine tourism extends beyond the summer season, with an itinerant journey. from October 3 to 25, 2026 with appointments in 7 cellars and as many territories, from south-eastern Sicily to Etna, from the Nebrodi to the Madonie up to the westernmost part of the island.

The journey will begin on Saturday, October 3rd in Vittoria (RG), at the Tenuta Bastonaca, and continue on Sunday, October 4th in Butera (CL), at the Tenute Navarra. The following weekend will take enthusiasts to the Etna side: on Saturday, October 10th in Castiglione di Sicilia, at the Cantine Patria, and on Sunday, October 11th in Furnari (ME), at the Cantina Cambria. The journey will continue on Sunday, October 18th in Castelbuono (PA), at the Abbey of Santa Anastasia. The grand finale in western Sicily will be on Saturday, October 24th in Sambuca di Sicilia (AG), at the Di Prima winery, and on Sunday, October 25th in Marsala (TP), at the Baglio Donna Franca.

Every year, "Autumn in the Cellar" brings together new producers and immerses wine lovers in the most authentic Sicily, just as the harvest gives way to anticipation and the wine begins to develop its own character: an itinerary through vineyards, cellars, flavors, music, and culture.

In each stage the following are scheduled: visit to the cellar and the rows with small tastings of wine; the cooking show “Wine in Food” This event will feature an interpreter of local gastronomic tradition, along with Nino Aiello, who will engage the audience in the discovery of a dish in which wine is the star of the show. There will also be an in-depth discussion led by IRVO, with the participation of experts and winemakers: “From Glass to Plate – Stories of the Vineyard” will tell you about the characteristics of the area and its labels chosen for tasting. The journey will conclude with the show “See you again in front of a bottle of wine”, An artistic production featuring extraordinary, well-known artists. A performance entirely dedicated to the celebration of wine in the history of music, featuring performances of the greatest hits, past and present, that address this theme or contain the word "wine" in their lyrics, featuring Marcello Mandreucci, Giuseppe Milici, Valeria Milazzo, and Alessandra Salerno.
