SAVE THE DATE – SICILIAN WINE JUNE

Five events to tell the story of Sicilian viticulture between cultural excellence, scientific research and territorial identity
In June 2025, IRVO – Regional Institute of Wine and Oil – will be the protagonist of five events that explore, from different but complementary perspectives, the strategic value of Sicilian viticulture as a cultural, scientific and productive system.

From the valorization of the identity of Mozia Award, to the scientific dissemination of projects Bi.Vi.Si. And VIEW Glossy, until the rediscovery of the Perricone, to the international success of Sicilian oil JOOP 2025, and participation in the prestigious Assoenologi Congress, IRVO designs an integrated path that combines memory, innovation and vision of the future.

 
Saturday 21st June – 6:00 pm
II International Mozia Prize
Mozia Island (Marsala, TP)

The second edition of the International Mozia Prize takes place in the evocative setting of the Phoenician island of Mozia, promoted by the Centro Studi Nuova Età with the support of the Sicilian Region, the Municipality of Marsala, the Whitaker Foundation and numerous public and private bodies.
IRVO is among the institutional promoters of the event, which intends to recognize prominent figures for their commitment to the enhancement of Mediterranean culture and Sicilian identity. Rai Sicilia is also present, testifying to the media and cultural relevance of the Award.

Final day of the Bi.Vi.Si. and VISTA Lucido projects

A technical-informative meeting to share the results of two key projects for viticultural innovation in Sicily:

Bi.Vi.Si. – Sicilian Viticultural Biodiversity

VISTA Lucido – Innovative and Sustainable Enhancement of the Terroirs of Native Varieties

The day includes scientific sessions, moments of discussion between academia, businesses and institutions, and a reflection on future prospects in terms of sustainability, climate adaptation and varietal valorization.
Organized with the support of the Consorzio DOC Sicilia, the Department of Agriculture and the PSR Sicilia 2014–2020 partnership (Sub-measure 16.1).

Tuesday 24th June – 11:00am
JOOP 2025 – Japanese Olive Oil Prize Winners Awards Ceremony
IRVO – Via Pipitone Federico 8, Palermo

Following the success of Sicilian companies at JOOP 2025 in Tokyo – one of the most authoritative international competitions in the EVO Oil sector – IRVO and Confimprese Palermo are organizing a press conference with awards ceremony.
Of the 20 participating companies, 14 were selected for the excellence of their products.
The meeting will be an opportunity to celebrate oil made in Sicily, consolidate synergies between the olive and wine supply chains, and strengthen the visibility of quality production on Asian markets.

 
Wednesday 25th June – 10:00 am
Final conference of the PER.RI.CON.E. project – Rediscovery and valorization of Perricone
CNR-IBBR, Via Ugo La Malfa 153, Palermo

A technical conference open to the public to share the results of the project FOR.RI.CON.E., focused on the rediscovery and preservation of historical variety Perricone, with a bioeconomic approach.
The program includes talks by experts in genetics, microbiology and oenology.
Dr. Daniele Oliva of IRVO will illustrate the new frontiers of the use of non-Saccharomyces yeasts for the vinification of Perricone.
Scientific partners (CNR-IBBR, CREA) and involved wine companies were also present.

June 26–28
78th National Congress of Assoenologi – “Wine, the sea of life”
Agrigento – Pirandello Theatre & Kaos Resort

IRVO participates in the National Congress of Assoenologi, a leading event in Italian enology, which will involve guests from the scientific, cultural and business world.
Among the protagonists: Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Brown Wasp, Mario Moretti Polegato, Gianfranco Vissani, Charles Petrini.
During the day of June 28, Dr. Daniele Oliva, director of the Biotechnology Unit, will present IRVO activities on microbiological biodiversity.
During the “Vista Lucido” session, the impact of the project on the Sicilian varietal identity will be presented.
An opportunity to reaffirm the strategic role of Sicily in the national wine scene.

Public Consultation Update PTPCT IRVO 2025-2027

Public consultation for the purpose of updating the Three-Year Plan for the Prevention of Corruption and Transparency (PTPCT) 2025/2027 In order to allow maximum involvement in the preparation of the update of the Three-Year Plan for the Prevention of Corruption and Transparency of the Regional Institute of Wine and Oil for the three-year period 2025/2027, all those who are interested are invited - in particular citizens, companies, consumer associations, representative trade unions, other entities operating in the territory representing particular interests - to send observations and/or proposals to the Person in Charge of the Prevention of Corruption and Transparency (RPCT), which will be evaluated when drafting the document.
