Lucio Monte is the new director of Irvos

Monte, 48 years old and a graduate in Chemistry, has been working at Irvos for twenty years: he started as an analyst in the laboratory, then in 2001 he became manager of the Quality sector and since 2007 manager of the institution's Palermo laboratory. In 2010, with the then general director Dario Cartabellotta, the task of the Laboratory Unit arrived and in 2011 the task of the Certification and Control body and the technical-scientific area.
The appointment confirms his competence and professionalism.
“I am honored – comments Monte – by the joint trust given to me by councilor Cartabellotta and professor Calabrese. I feel the weight of this role but also the taste for the challenge together with all those who in recent years have shared the operational actions of the Institute and the satisfactions, especially in the field of scientific research and services to companies. The activity of Control and Certification body for DOP and IGP wines, just look at the success of the recent DOC Sicilia, – he continues – and the internationalization activity are recognized as fundamental by the supply chain operators”. Certified Quality will increasingly be the leitmotif of IRVOS under the guidance of Commissioner Calabrese. “As an Institute we are focusing on actions to support the olive oil sector,” concludes the new director, “proposing ourselves as a control and certification body for Sicilian DOP oils and the Sicilian PGI extra virgin olive oil to be established and also promoting training and internationalization of oil companies".
