To class in California

foto_2
The study trip to California promoted and coordinated by IRVOS will end on Saturday morning, May 26, with a visit to the vineyards and companies of Napa Valley. An experience that is involving the winemakers of some Sicilian wineries and which is proving to be very interesting.

And from the scientific and technological point of view and from the point of view of knowledge of new wine production methods. Accompanying the group are two collaborators of professor Attilio Scienza, namely doctors Luca Toninato and Jacopo Cricco, and professor Daniele Tirelli, a marketing expert.

The first stop was a visit to the Department of Viticulture and Oenology of the University of Davis, which boasts a notable scientific production. Here the Sicilian winemakers also had the opportunity to visit their vineyards with the typical Californian cultivation methods and also the microvinification cellar equipped with modern technological equipment. On Tuesday, however, they stopped at a winery in the Lodi area (Farms vineyards), which practices eco-sustainable viticulture, and at the Woodbridge company of the Robert Mondavi group which produces one million two hundred thousand hectoliters of wine, always with eco-sustainable production standards . Wednesday was the day dedicated to organizing wine distribution in California. The winemakers thus had the opportunity to visit different types of American large-scale retail trade (Nugget Market, Winco, Corti Bros, Costco) near Sacramento.
